Wētā Workshop is excited to dive into the world of Thra and create premium collectibles for the prequel series, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, which tells a new story, set many years before the events of the 1982 movie.

When three Gelfling uncover the horrific truth behind the power of the Skeksis, the fires of rebellion are kindled and an epic battle for survival begins.

So rich and visionary was Jim Henson’s 1982 passion project that it inspired dreamers across the creative arts, including a whole generation of film effects artists now working at Wētā Workshop. Released at a time when many of our crew were young and beginning to explore their own creative energies, The Dark Crystal was an eye-opener: it was possible to bring imaginary worlds to life, and it could be a career!

For years, those of us who had fallen in love with this world hoped that someday Thra might return to our screens. Thanks to Netflix, it has, and now we have the chance to express our fandom by creating super faithful, highly detailed collectible figures and prop replicas from The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance.

Gentle and full of joy, this kind Grottan Gelfling sees the best in everything and everyone.

Deet is content and happy hand-feeding nurlocs in the Caves of Grot where she lives with her family. But everything changes for Deet when the Sanctuary Tree speaks to her, giving her a vision of their world darkened and dying.

Compelled by this truth to seek out the leader of the seven Gelfling clans, Deet leaves her home for the very first time to journey in the bright lands above ground. Even as the three suns sting in her sensitive eyes, Deet's bravery and single-minded belief in the goodness of Thra and its people drive in pursuit of her urgent quest.

Joining Weta Workshop’s Dark Crystal range, Deet has been designed to accompany her friend and protector, Hup. The crescent shape of the Gelfling’s base connects with the circular base of the brave Podling. Although available as standalone statues, we recommend displaying them together as one heroic pair, straight from the fantastical world of Thra.
