There I Go Again is a celebrity memoir like no other, revealing the life of a man who isn't really famous but whose acting career has been so rich that millions of Americans know his face and his voice even if they don't know his name. The book chronicles the extraordinary seventy-five-plus-year career of distinguished actor William Daniels and his indelible imprint on American popular culture through the beloved characters he's portrayed. Daniels is an enigma - a rare chameleon who has enjoyed massive success both in Hollywood and on Broadway, where he has been embraced by fans of every generation. Few of his peers inspire the fervor with which fans celebrate his most iconic roles, among them Mr. George Feeny on Boy Meets World, KITT on Knight Rider, Dr. Mark Craig on St. Elsewhere, and John Adams in the play and film 1776.

In looking back on his life, Daniels realizes that he never really wanted a career as an actor but never had the courage to say "no" - certainly not to his domineering stage mother, who thrust him into show business at the age of four. Once he became a young adult, Daniels's natural impulse was to say "no" to almost every role, but he still defied the odds by "backing into" stardom.

A talented storyteller, Daniels guides readers through some of Hollywood's most cherished productions, offering candid recollections of legends such as Tennessee Williams, Lucille Ball, Marilyn Monroe, Barbra Streisand, Warren Betty, Humphrey Bogart, Kirk Douglas, Lauren Bacall, and many more. Among Daniels's more colorful episodes, he morally refused the Tony Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor and bore firsthand witness to Audrey Hepburn and Albert Finney's affair when he played alongside them in Two for the Road. He helped convince director Mike Nichols to keep Simon & Garfunkel's music in The Graduate, a choice that helped both the band and film skyrocket to fame. Perhaps most remarkable of all, Daniels has achieved everything with the same woman by his side, his inimitably charming wife, actress Bonnie Daniels. Only through the analysis of his life - professional and personal - does Daniels come to realize that he wound up exactly where he was supposed to be.
