The silent screen phenomenon Pearl White, who was known as "Queen of the Serials," is chronicled here in this engaging, musical biopic exposing her life and Hollywood career. The folly-driven actress catapulted into the spotlight in the popular serial The Perils of Pauline, by performing all her own daredevil stunts—impressing a growing fan base. When the studio became more and more concerned for her safety, they began using stunt-doubles to replace her for the most dangerous scenes. Shortly after one of those stunt-doubles was killed during a scene, a scandal erupted and White took off for Paris, where her lack of success in feature films and deteriorating health brought on a nervous breakdown.
