Ernst Lubitsch began his four-decade filmmaking career in Berlin when he left high school at the age of 16. After being invited to America by Hollywood legend Mary Pickford, it was clear early on that Lubitsch had a special "touch" boldly evident in every endeavor he undertook. Available for the first time on DVD is one of his earliest silent classics, The Doll (1919/64 min.) along with the fascinating documentary Ernst Lubitsch in Berlin (2006/109 min.), spotlighting the storied history of Germany’s silent cinema.
