Airline pilot Captain Chesley Sully Sullenberger (Tom Hanks) is hailed as a hero after safely landing his plane on the Hudson River-and saving the lives of all 155 people onboard-when his engines were disabled by Canada geese on January 15th, 2009. But a subsequent investigation into the incident forces Sully to defend his actions when simulations indicate that he could have made it to one of two airports. Director Clint Eastwood's gripping true story, based on Sullenberger's memoir, also stars Aaron Eckhart, Laura Linney, Anna Gunn.
