The night Ronja was born a violent thunderstorm raged through the mountains and a lightning bolt cleaved her father's casle fortress in two. Her father Matt proudly announces her birth to his merry band of thieves. Little does he know that a boy child (Birk) was born to his arch enemy Borka that same night. Though a huge chasm divides their ancestral homes, Ronja and Birk are destined to meet. The two quickly become best friends despite their feuding families. They hope to escape the two warring tribes by fleeing to a nearby forest inhabited by rumphobs, dwarks, and wild harpies. And so their adventure begins
