Though bonded since their orphaned childhood in the New York slums, Blackie Gallagher (Clark Gable) became a notorious gambler, while Jim Wade (William Powell) became the city's D.A... and the fiancé of Blackie's former mistress (Myrna Loy). After Gallagher kills a whistleblower threatening Wade's gubernatorial run, the prosecutor finds a difficult course between friendship and duty. Powell and Loy's first screen pairing (and, yes, John Dillinger's last movie) co-stars Leo Carrillo and Mickey Rooney. 90 min.
