Thirty years after he left Zamunda for New York, Prince Akeem (Eddie Murphy) has ascended to the monarchy... and while happily married to true love Lisa (Shari Headley), they've produced no requisite male heir. It's discovered, though, that a drugged fling in the day with Queens native Mary (Leslie Jones) resulted in son Lavelle (Jermaine Fowler)-whom Akeem must now import and give a crash course in royalty.
