The Third Wave is more than a movie about the devastation that a tsunami caused in a country that sustained over 118,000 casualties. It is a movie about Volunteerism. Four people with little money and no experience race off to help out in tsunami ravaged Sri Lanka. They stumble into a tribal village that has been totally destroyed and begin the process that they had no idea where it would lead them. What was originally a two-week journey spirals into a year-long odyssey of hope, heartbreak, and setbacks as the villagers slowly begin to rise up against them as the worlds' donated tsunami money never materializes. With no other choices, the volunteers break every rule in the 'Disaster Aid books' and out of rubble an entire village is re-born.
