Jody Fuller is a comic, a speaker, and a soldier currently holding the rank of Captain in the Alabama National Guard. Additionally, he has three tours of duty in Iraq. He is also a lifetime stutterer. Growing up in Opelika, AL Jody had to overcome two things: being poor and stuttering. Enlisting in the Army after high school helped him overcome the income challenges but the stuttering still poses daily challenges. After a 4 year stint as an Army medic, he returned home to attend college at Auburn University at Montgomery where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. After the tragic events of 9/11, Jody made a decision to return to the Army via Officer Candidate School (OCS) at Ft. Benning, GA. After OCS, he completed the Transportation Officer Basic Course at Ft. Eustis, VA, before being assigned to 2nd Infantry Division at Ft. Lewis, WA. In November 2003, he deployed to Iraq for one year as a platoon leader with the 296th Brigade Support Battalion of the Army's First Stryker Brigade. In 2006, Jody left the active component of the Army to join the Alabama National Guard and has since deployed to Iraq two additional times. He returned from his most recent deployment in January 2011. CPT Fuller continues to serve with the 111th Ordnance Group in Opelika, AL. When not in uniform, Jody travels the globe speaking to or entertaining a wide variety of groups ranging from the Boys and Girls Club of America to the Department of Veterans Affairs, as well as entertaining troops from Ft. Lewis, WA to Kandahar, Afghanistan. His program focuses on bringing awareness to our military, to our veterans, and to the challenges of stuttering, albeit in a humorous manner. His humor is universal and appeals to all. Jody currently resides in Opelika, Alabama.
