American Experience: Grand Central
One of America’s finest architectural and engineering achievements came about as the result of a deadly tragedy which occurred in New York City on January 8, 1902. A southbound commuter train slammed into the back end of another train causing the death of 17 people and the injuries of 38 more. A self-taught engineer’s response to that accident gave birth to Grand Central Terminal which opened on February 12, 1913. 2008/color/60 min/NR/widescreen.
